2021 02/27 – James “Jim” Bookhout

James “Jim” Bookhout, 61, of Centralia, IL formerly of Salem, IL passed away at his home Tuesday, February 23, 2021. Jim graduated from Salem Community High School in 1978. He worked at World Color Press for many years in Salem until its closing. He later worked as a general laborer at several locations throughout Marion County. He also worked at Simonton Hardwood Lumber in Posey, Illinois. He enjoyed the outdoors and visiting with his family and friends.

A private Family Graveside Service for James “Jim” Bookhout will be held at a later date at the Cisne Cemetery. There will be no public visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice and will be accepted by the Sutherland – Rankin Funeral Home, 310 N. Broadway P.O. He is survived by his father and stepmother, Ron and Shirley Bookhout of West Salem, Illinois. Also surviving are two sons, Nathan Bookhout of Chicago and Chris Bookhout of Iuka; brother Mike Bookhout (Angie) of rural Salem, a sister Ronda and husband and Kevin of Cisne, a brother Richard Bookhout (Marina) of Cisne, and a brother Kevin Bookhout (Trish) of Olney. Other survivors include four grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.

He was born December 21, 1959, in Salem to Ronald and Mary Patricia (Barry) Bookhout.
