Abandoned Mobile Home Destroyed by Fire in Walnut Hill
Fire destroyed an abandoned mobile home in Walnut Hill early Sunday morning. The fire, first noticed by a passerby, had fully engulfed the home before Centralia Fire Protection crews arrived on the scene. The fire at 401 Main Street could be seen glowing for several miles. Kinmundy places 8 pm curfew on everyone under 16
The Kinmundy Board of Aldermen has immediately put an eight pm curfew into effect until further notice for all kids under 16. Under the curfew, children will not be allowed to roam the community without a parent, guardian, or responsible person 18 and older. Marion County Property Tax Bills Are in the Mail; 3 Percent Higher Than Last Year
The Marion County Treasurer's Office has announced the mailing of 2024 payable 2025 Real Estate Bills. The total number of bills is 34,464. The total amount of Marion County Real Estate Tax billed is $46,740,744.98 plus $2,146,277.04 for Railroad Taxes. The amount of the tax bills is up $ 1.5 million from last year, or just over three percent higher. The due dates of this year's bills are July 24th and September 25th.
