Marion County Board committees say U of I extension money will be returned
Supporters of the University of Illinois Extension Programs, including 4H, jammed into the Marion County Courthouse Monday night to ask the county board to return the money zeroed out of the budget for the program. Centralia man injured in Mills Cart Road Crash
A 24-year-old Centralia man was injured when his SUV ran off Mills Cart Road east of Hoots Chapel Road northeast of Salem and fell six feet off a bridge into a creek below. Salem Fire Protection District officials say Trey Dunn of South Pine was assisted out of the vehicle that came to rest on the driver's side, but he was not trapped. Centralia regulates electric and gas bicycles
The Centralia City Council passed an ordinance at its regular meeting on Monday to regulate low-speed electric and gas bicycles on city streets. These powered bicycles will now be required to be registered with the police department and go through inspection. Registration will require a $20 fee and will provide an annual tag for each powered bicycle.
