Balloon Fest crews receive training in Foundation Park
Around fifty people were in Foundation Park Wednesday evening for crew training ahead of Balloon Fest this weekend. Balloons were filled with air, but conditions did not allow for takeoff Wednesday night. Some participants who signed up were assigned to balloons in need of crew, and those who were not assigned to a balloon may still be asked to help balloons as the need arises during activities on Friday and Saturday.

Salem teen wins big at State Fair
A Salem Community High School sophomore ended the State Fair Livestock Competition with the overall Land of Lincoln Reserve steer. Kaolin Lewis earlier won reserve overall for the Simmental breed and was grand champion in the Land of Lincoln Simmental competition. Semi Truck Catches Fire in Kell
The cab of a semi truck caught fire while parked at the Saatkamp residence in the 500 block of 3rd Street in Kell on Wednesday evening.
