The Salem Lion’s Club is making preparations for Post Prom early Saturday morning following the Friday night Prom activities. Salem High School Athletic Director Scott Steward says there is extra excitement this year as the event returns from a COVID shutdown.
“Very excited about being back and a lot of the things we’ve taken for granted for many years and didn’t have that opportunity the last two, has really created an excitement at SCHS that post prom is back and they are ready to have fun and come celebrate their high school careers as juniors and seniors. And just being together is really important we haven’t been able to do that a lot the past couple of years so it’s a really exciting time at SCHS.”
Tabatha Meador who chairs the event for the Lion’s Club says their goal is to provide a safe alcohol free event for students after Prom.
“The Lion’s Club comes together to host and put together the food committee, prize and entertainment committees. Kim’s Party Jumps will be there with a couple fun houses she sets up. The Entertainment Committee will have some games throughout the night and the prizes are given away throughout as well.”
There will be some large cash prizes as the Crouse Funeral Home in Salem has donated a $500 prize and the Sutherland Rankin Funeral Home for $250 prizes. She reports the Lion’s Club will have a number of other large prizes.
Both Steward and Meador says donations have been great from community members and businesses, but more help would be appreciated. If you would like to make a donation, you may contact Steward at Salem Community High School or Meador at Salem City Hall.
