Centralia Police are investigating a report of a 65-year-old Salem man who was hit in the side of the face with a handgun before being robbed of $270 cash and a debit card.
Police say the armed robbery occurred in Foundation Park early Friday morning after a series of incidents involving the alleged victim and a white male and female who are being sought in connection with the case.
The alleged victim reported he had initially been given a ride from downtown to the Executive Apartments on North Elm Street. The two later returned to take him to the Circle K store where he used the ATM to withdraw money to purchase a pack of cigarettes. The alleged victim also told police he gave the two $20 for gas money before they drove to Foundation Park where a revolver was put to his head and the two demanded all his money. The alleged victim didn’t think the two were serious until he was hit in the side of the head with the gun. At that point, he allegedly gave up the $270 and debit card.
Police report the alleged victim did not require hospital treatment, but did have a small abrasion and a red area where he said he was hit with the gun.
