Explore KC Day will be held this Friday at Kaskaskia College.
Dean of Enrollment Services Amy Troutt says high school students, parents, and other potential students are all welcome.
“It is essentially an open house for prospective students and their families or anyone they want to bring along to come and find out about resources and experience some of what the programs offer. We do have a formal agenda from 9-12 that day and that will include some presentations to students and parents. Some of it is just about general programs, partnerships, student life, opportunities while they are still in high school, what to expect with their next steps, a tour of campus…etc.”
Troutt says students will have time to meet with faculty in their planned area of study while parents will hear from a panel of college representatives on financial aid, academic excellence and health and safety.
Both lunch and breakfast will be provided as well as free dessert from Fantastick Pops.
In the afternoon, students will be able to learn about transfer options.
“People who are thinking about transferring or going on to a higher education degree beyond KC, can really start to make those relationships and think about the whole picture from start to finish.”
Troutt says over 17 colleges and universities will be in attendance.
