A 32-year-old Wayne City man was injured in a single-vehicle crash in Hamilton County Wednesday morning.
State Police say preliminary investigative details indicate Michael Smith was traveling northbound on Illinois Route 242 when for an unknown reason he veered off the left side of the road, struck a culvert, and became airborne before striking a tree.
Smith was transported by helicopter to a regional hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Smith was ticketed for improper lane usage, unlawful possession of cannabis, and failure to wear a seatbelt.
The crash occurred at 7:45 Wednesday morning.
