COVID-19 numbers remain low; 3rd week in a row with no deaths in Marion County

COVID-19 numbers remain low for another week across South Central Illinois as the entire state is listed in the low category for retransmission of the disease.

The COVID-19 Tracker at the CDC reports 8,039 cases statewide with an additional 130 deaths for the week ending Saturday.

In Marion County, there were just 19 new cases, a 55-percent drop from the prior week. The county’s infection rate is down to 55 per 100,000. There was one new hospitalization during the week.

The Marion County Health Department is reporting no new COVID-19 related deaths for the third week in a row.

The CDC tracker says cases were up in Clinton County this week to 28. The county’s rate of infection is at 75 per 100,000. There were no new hospitalizations.

In Jefferson County, cases increased to 14 with one new hospitalization. The rate of infection is at 37 per 100,000 residents.

Washington, Fayette, Clay and Wayne Counties are all reporting under 10 new cases. The only new hospitalization in the four counties is one in Wayne County.
