A 33-year-old rural Odin man has been charged in Marion County Court with two charges surrounding threats allegedly made with a machete.
Kirk Johnston of Page Avenue was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and aggravated battery.
Centralia Police say Johnston was in a group of five to seven people in two different vehicles involved in a dispute in front of the Public Aid office in the 800 block of South Locust on Monday. Johnston allegedly got out of one of the vehicles armed with the machete and grabbed a woman out of the other car by her hair and threatened her with the weapon.
Police say Johnston was taken into custody without incident when they arrived on the scene. There were no injuries.
Bond for Johnston was set at $25,000 and the public defender appointed to represent him.
