The Greater Salem Chamber of Commerce honored two outgoing presidents at a Christmas Social Thursday night at the Marion County Bank Annex Building.
2020 President Chris Daniels and 2021 President James Sager were both honored for their service since no events were held at the end of last year due to COVID-19. Sager is passing the gavel to 2022 President Jillian Wilkins.
Sager was pleased to be able to restart several chamber events that had to be cancelled in 2020.
“We had a fantastic year, our events were well attended. The turn outs have been exceptional. We had great participation from the board and volunteers and we look forward to 2022 and Jillian’s leadership.”
Wilkins says they have set several objectives for 2022.
“This year we talked about revising a few of the events. Some of them that aren’t dying down but need new life. And just keep growing the Chamber. It’s exciting people are starting to contact us to join the business, and to grow their small business.”
Two new chamber board members were welcomed, Kenny Detmer from Max Dye, Inc and Brendan Bullard of Gadget Gurus.
The board handed out three Outstanding Customer Service Awards. Laura Sullivan of Smokey Birds was presented her award in person while Oneyda Diaz of El Rancherito and Ellie McClelland of the RAIL Coffee Room will receive their awards later.
Chamber Executive Director Jessiycka Coleman feels the establishment of the awards helps to recognize the importance of customer service at all businesses. Winners were selected from customer nominations.
