An expansion of a Christmas celebration to a Friday night carnival at the Salem Community Activity Center is getting good reviews from organizers.

About 200 children and families participated.   Jed Casburn of the YMCA and Salem Recreation Director feels can be built upon in future years as the city tries to increase its Christmas offerings.

“I’m very pleased.  the community came out.  It was very very busy for a while.   We had some carnival games, minute to win it games, we had crafts and we had food.  The kids had a lot of fun.  I saw a lot of smiles tonight (Friday) and that’s what we are all about. ”

The City of Salem, the Salem Community Activity Center, and several businesses combined efforts to make the event a success.
