The Marion County Health Department is reporting two more COVID-19 related deaths.
Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow reports the deaths were females in their 40s and 60s. Neither was vaccinated and were not long-term care residents. The county has now had 157 deaths since the pandemic began.
The health department is also reporting 53 new COVID-19 cases over the past two days. 12 of the positives were fully vaccinated.
There are now 203 active cases, including eight in the hospital. Those hospitalized are four in their 50s, two in their 60s, and one apiece in their 70s and 80s. None are on ventilators.
Of the new cases, 15 are school age, two are four years old and younger and none are long-term care residents. 36 of the new cases are considered community spread and 17 are household or close contacts.
The health department released 73 from isolation on Wednesday and Thursday.
