A 35-year-old Centralia man has pleaded guilty to a weapons charge in federal court.

Jerry Courtney admitted to being a felon in possession of a firearm. He will face up to ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine when sentenced on February 23rd.

Courtney reportedly had left a 9-mm pistol behind inside a car in April when he fled a traffic stop in which he was a passenger. The gun was reportedly found in a green bag on top of Courtney’s college transcript.

Courtney was already on parole at the time for possession of a stolen weapon and residential burglary.
