The Marion County Health Department is reporting 44 new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend and Monday and Tuesday. Four of the positive cases were from those fully vaccinated. There were no new deaths during the four-day period.
Exactly half of the new cases, 22, are in school-age children. Two are four years of age and younger. None are long-term care residents. The health department is considering 26 of the cases as community spread and 18 as household or close contacts.
There are now 255 active cases in the county, including seven in the hospital. Of the seven, three are in their 50s, two in their 60s, one in their 70s, and one in their 80s. None of those in the hospital are on ventilators.
