It was a day for they history books for Patoka as their baseball and softball teams both won 3rd place in their SIJHSAA State Tournaments Thursday afternoon at the Oasis Sports Complex in Marion.

 

The Patoka Lady Mohawks walked it off in 9 innings over St John Lutheran 8-7 in Class S.  Adley Martin singled in the winning run.  She went 3-4 in the game including a double.  All 3 of her hits came after the sixth inning.  Patoka took the lead in the bottom of the first with RBI from Clair Payne and extended it to 4-1 on a Maybree Goldboro drove in a run.  The game was tied again at 4 in the fourth when Jessa Thalman singled in a run and Gentry Carbaugh added an RBI groundout to make it 6-4.  Mabree Phelps added 2 hits.  Phelps was the winning pitcher going 9 innings striking out 13 and scattering 5 hits and 2 earned runs.  Congratulations to the Lady Mohawks as their season ends with a 17-4 record.

 

Not to be outdone, the Patoka/Odin Mohawks won their baseball game over New Simpson Hill 8-1.  Nolan Eddy went 3-4 with a double and 3 RBI.  Noah Cain was great striking out 12 batters as he allowed 4 hits and one run in the complete game.  Eddy singled home a run in the first.  He extended the lead with an RBI in the second.  Cain had 2 hits and Peyton Hyde walked 3 times.  John Garrett added an RBI.  Grant Eddy had a hit and run scored.  The Mohawks season ends at 20-3.  Valmeyer won the baseball state title over St Joe Olney 6-3.
