The Sandoval Village Board is the latest to ban Kratom both in its natural and synthetic form. The ordinance also bans several other synthetic and novel substances from sale and distribution for recreational use in the community.
The action comes a month after two village residents came before the board to explain how items sold at a local business had harmed their son, leaving him with disabilities. Mayor Mike Gelsinger says there will be exceptions for prescriptions for the use of the natural Kratom.
The Sandoval Board completed plans for the street fair with vendors, which is scheduled as part of the Halloween and Homecoming parade planned by the Sandoval school district on Friday afternoon, October 30th. Halloween trick-or-treating will follow that night in Sandoval.
The Sandoval Village Board also set its Christmas in the Village for December 11th from 5-8. There will be a tree lighting, Santa and Mrs. Claus, and vendors. The board is working on a display of memorial trees with details to be released later.
Sandoval is also accepting applications for public works director as long time Public Works Director Phil Milano plans to retire in December.
