Four of the individuals who objected to Anthony Decker’s nomination as the Republican candidate for Marion County Sheriff have filed for judicial review following those objections being overturned by an electoral board last Friday. The four objectors are Christopher Duncan, Gavin Cass, Tracie Fisk, and Angela Wyatt.
The electoral board decided against each of the objectors for similar reasons, due to the objectors bringing similar objections following the same template. Grounds 1, 2, and 4 of each objection were dismissed by the board due to falling outside of the board’s authority.
The board agreed with Decker’s attorney Matt Wilzbach to dismiss the three grounds based on the electoral board only being able to rule on Decker’s nominating petition filed with the county clerk’s office, not actions that occurred earlier in the Republican party caucus.
In their filings for judicial review, each objector claims that the board dismissing these grounds was incorrect, and that more evidence should have been accepted and considered by the board before making a decision.
The objectors continue seeking to have nomination for sheriff vacated and Anthony Decker removed from the ballot as a result.
