A 49-year-old Centralia man has been charged in Marion County court with two felony counts and two misdemeanor counts of domestic battery. The charges allege that Robert Canada of South Elm Street struck Deborah Kelso in a September 13 incident, hitting her in the face with DVD cases and with his hand. The two felony charges are due to Canada receiving a prior conviction for domestic battery in Clinton County.
A motion to deny pretrial release was granted due to release posing a real and present threat to the victim.
Canada’s preliminary hearing and first appearance with counsel are scheduled for Thursday, October 8, at 11:00 a.m.
