A 46-year-old Centralia man has been found guilty on multiple counts of domestic violence at the FasMart on West Main in Salem following a two-day jury trial.
Robert Williams was found guilty of two counts of aggravated battery, unlawful restraint, and domestic battery.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department and the Salem Police Department arrested Williams on January 16, 2024, after officers responded to a reported domestic battery. Officers arrived on scene and located Williams along with the victim, Lindsay Holsapple, who was bleeding from multiple locations on her head and told officers Williams struck her in the head several times.
The case was prosecuted by Marion County State’s Attorney Tim Hudspeth who presented testimony from several witnesses, including the victim, an employee of FasMart, Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy Corey Cline and Detective Jordan Johson, and former Salem Police Officers Ryan Meador and Blake Phillips.
The jury deliberated for approximately 45 minutes before returning the guilty verdicts. The case is now set for sentencing on November 4th at 1:30 p.m. Williams faces between 1-10 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
