The Salem City Council on Monday night will be asked to put the city’s Emergency Management Agency under the Marion County EMA.  The county has agreed to maintain the city’s EMA accreditation and submit the city’s grant paperwork to the state EMA for reimbursement, payable to the county upon receipt.  City Manager Lisa Peck says state EMA officials did not see any issues that might disqualify the city’s accreditation or its grant eligibility.

The council will be asked to amend the Tax Increment Financing District #3 agreement with TruSwing, LLC to add owner Brian Pennypacker so he can be reimbursed for the building’s acquisition cost, which he later sold to the LLC.

The Public Works Director Travis Sanders is seeking approval of a lease for a building at 638 East Main to use for storage of equipment and downtown Christmas decorations, at a cost of $1,000 a month.  The lease has a one year term, with auto-renewal unless written notice is given to the landlord 30 days prior.  Sanders is also seeking authorization to work with the city mechanic to find a used dump truck for under $100,000 that is in the city’s budget this year.

The council will be asked to approve emergency repairs to the West high service pump at the water treatment plant.  Repairs are expected to not exceed $25,000.

The council will be asked to appoint Finance Director Keli Barrow-Dreas as city treasurer to replace the retiring Jill Combs.

The meeting begins at six Monday night at Salem City Hall.
