The Downtown Salem Historic Farmers Market with Music on the Porch is returning for another year this Saturday.
Becky Timmerman, who owns the Benjamin Edwards building, host the weekly summer event in the rear parking lot in the 200 block of West Main Street. The market will be open every Saturday morning from nine to noon through August.
Timmerman is looking for another exciting year, but says rules will be tightened on vendors.
“The space is free. We have 14 vendors so far, and if you want me to advertise for you, you’ve got to get your name into me by Tuesday of each week. When you get here to the marketplace, the lot will close at 8 o’clock. You have to stay until the markets over that way we will cut out all the chaos.”
Timmerman says some new vendors will be joining the market this year.
“We have a new vendor called splash in the meadows. The lady makes paint kits. We have two 3D printers, we have Texas crazy horse iron works, course we have Virginias weaving, Marries creations, we have fresh flowers, and then we have Quann’s produce, farm eggs, nanas kitchen with her pies, sierras soaps, simply scooped ice cream, and sour dough bread. We also have a new honey vendor, Papa B’s Bees, he’s bringing elder berry honey, hot honey, and he’s got some cool varieties and we’ll have Uncle Randy’s sweets”
Timmerman says Chris Watkins will return with BBQ. Other vendors will join in as the summer goes by.
Timmerman says musicians are invited to sing on the porch. Anyone interested can contact Timmerman at Benjamin Edwards.
