The Centralia City Council Monday night will be asked to consider a Memorandum of Understanding that would allow the Marion County Board to take over the Centralia animal pound as the new county facility.

City Manager Galen Mahle says the temporary agreement will remain in place until the final sale of the dog pound is completed.  Part of the delay is the city’s completing a survey to allow it to keep eight acres of the total dog pound property while selling the three acres containing the pound.  The agreement does allow either side to end the memorandum of understanding with 15 days’ notice if the sale has not been completed.

The council will be asked to enter into two resolutions with Gonzales Companies LLC.  One is to perform preliminary design and construction engineer services for improvements to South Perrine Street from the Norfolk Southern Railroad to East Calumet Street at a cost of $211,759.   The second project is to provide preliminary engineering services for drainage improvements in the Holliday Terrace Subdivision to alleviate flooding during heavy rain.   Gonzales will be paid $32,500 for that project.

The council will be asked to approve a $ 300-per-month lease with Hann-Harp LLC for warehouse space at 2338 East Calumet to store two leaf vac trucks and related equipment.

Another resolution would allow the Greater Centralia Chamber of Commerce to serve as administrative agent for the Centralia Tourism Commission for another year.

The meeting begins at six on Monday night at Centralia City Hall.
