The Centralia City Council Monday night will be asked to authorize the city to apply for a loan program designed to spur economic development.
If approved, the $500,000 would be used to create a revolving loan program to assist city businesses and increase employment opportunities with the goal of alleviating poverty. The interest generated through the program will be used to pay off the loan in full with no additional fund sources being required. The maximum loan under the program will be $250,000 and cannot finance more than 50-percent of the total cost of any project.
The council will be asked to continue to waive demolition fees for 2026 as the city works to get substandard buildings torn down.
The meeting begins at six Monday night at Centralia City Hall.
