The Marion County Sheriff’s Department reports at least two vehicles slid off the road during the snow activity Thursday night.   Temperatures rising to freezing overnight caused the snow on the pavement to melt.  There is still the possibility of some slick spots on bridges and overpasses.   The Salem Water Plant recorded an inch of snow fell during the evening, melting down to 15 hundredths of an inch of precipitation.

The sheriff’s department reports a car left State Route 161 Extension near Shanafelt Road in rural Kell after hitting a slick spot and ran into a field.   Another car slid on a slick spot at the Mills Cart and Baldridge Road behind the Salem Walmart and hit the curb, breaking the axle.

The sheriff’s department also handled a sideswipe accident during the snowstorm as two vehicles narrowly missed hitting on U.S. 50 near Landmark Road in rural Iuka.  A mirror was knocked off one of the cars.
