At the regular meeting Monday night, the Centralia City Council approved a low bid of $249,936 from KRB excavating for improvements along Orchard Drive East. The bid came in below the engineer’s estimate of $292,478. The improvements will include pavement removal and replacement, concrete curb and gutter, driveway improvements, storm sewer improvements, and pavement patching.

The council issued a Class F liquor license for packaged liquor only to the Centralia Food Mart at 135 S Elm Street and a Class E restaurant liquor license for Good Vibes at 806 S Poplar Street. The owner of Good Vibes has stated that the business will not have video gaming.

The council approved an engineering agreement with Gonzalez Companies, LLC for preliminary engineering and engineering inspection services for the 2026 Motor Fuel Tax State Maintenance Program.

A resolution was passed giving approval to the Prairie State Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution to place a 250 Patriots Marker in Fairview Park to commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence. The marker will be placed among the multiple flagpoles near the park entrance off of Broadway.

CJ Schlosser and Co. were approved to continue auditing services for FY 25 at a cost not to exceed $37,650.

City Clerk Kim Enke noted that City Hall will be closed Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving, and trash and waste services for those days will be delayed by one day.

Next month’s city council meetings will take place on December 1 and December 15.
