The Salem City Council Monday night will provide input on the city’s comprehensive plan that will help direct the city’s future for the next ten years. A citizen listening session and input from the planning commission have already been gathered by Arndt Municipal Support which has a contract to put the plan together.
The council be asked to give second reading approval to the proposed property tax levy for the coming fiscal year. The levy is $50,416 more than last year, which is a 3.51 percent increase.
The repaving of Airport Road is on the agenda. The council is requested to approve the low bid from Howell Paving at $119,917.
Any bids for the purchase of the Salem Animal Control Facility at 4700 Cartter Road in rural Kell will be opened. The Marion County Board had been looking at the purchase of the facility for the county animal control facility but decided at the last meeting not to make a bid as they look at other options.
The council has received a request to extend liquor hours on Christmas eve until midnight. The current liquor code requires liquor sales or consumption of alcohol to end at six Christmas Eve.
