The Centralia City Council Monday night decided to take no action on returning to in-person meetings and let the new council that will be impacted to make that decision.
City Clerk Kim Engh reported on some nights the number of those in the public on the Zoom meeting could socially distance in the council chambers but not on other nights. Interim City Manager Forrest Langenfelt said he felt it might be best to hold off a while longer due to remaining COVID-19 concerns.
The council approved as part of the consent agenda requests for three events to be held as usual this year. They include closing South Locust Street for the Locust Street Historical Fair on Saturday, May first. They also approved the American Legion using Fairview Park for their annual Homecoming and Fireworks Display July 1st through the 4th. The Farmer’s Market was granted permission to use the city parking lot on South Locust Street for the market May through October 23rd.
The council presented service awards to Police Sergeant James Ramsey for 25 years of service and Maintenance Operator Mark Knox for 15 years of service.
