The KC Blue Devils basketball team beat Shawnee 71-62 on the road last night behind Chris White who scored a game-high 19 points and Jalen Williams 5 three’s and 15 points all in the second half. The win boosts KC’s District record to 7-7 and a tie for 5th place with SWIC and only one game behind Wabash Valley for the 4 seed and first round home court game in the region tournament. KC is 10-8 overall as they head to Lincoln Trail on Wednesday.

The Blue Angels basketball team fell to 4-13 overall and 3-10 in the GRAC after a 69-61 loss at SWIC. Kyra Duncan had 16 in the loss. Melea Lovelace, Janiah Newell and Megan Kronk each had 12. The women travel to Lincoln Trail tomorrow night as well.
John A. Logan 89; Triton 75
In a battle of ranked teams, number eight John A. Logan (15-3) defeated visiting and 16th ranked Triton, 89-75, in Carterville.
Triton led 39-35 at halftime, but the Volunteers took control early in the second half led by Cam Alford who scored 26 of his game-high 31 points in the final 20 minutes.
Alford meshed five of the Vol’s 12 treys in the game.
Romon Douglas-Watkins hit three 3’s and scored 20 points, Sydney Curry added 11 while Jarmarion Sharpe scored ten including a three-pointer ahead of the buzzer ending the game.
The Trojans (17-3) were led by D.J. Patrick’s 21 points including four triples while Kijuan Clements scored 12 points and Lewis Rowe added ten.
Wabash Valley 96; Lake Land 90
Wabash Valley (8-6, 11-7) held off a furious late charge by visiting Lake Land to subdue the Lakers, 96-90, in Mt. Carmel.
Five Warriors combined for 88 of WVC’s 96 points led by JeJuan Weatherspoon who had 20 points including a pair of treys. Others in the scoring column: TreVon Smith, 19 points including two three 3’s, Jay Turner, 19, L.A. Fayne, 15 points including two treys and 12 points in the second half and Trevon Hamilton who also had 15 points including two treys and 8-10 free throw attempts in the final twenty minutes.
The Lakers (4-10, 6-12) were paced by Leroy Walker’s 22 points. Isaiah May meshed three trifectas and scored 19 points, Malachi Davis,15 points including 13 in the second half and Clint Weber with 14 points.
Wabash Valley which led 50-39 at halftime is now only one game behind Olney Central and Vincennes in a race for the number two seed in the District standings.
SWIC 97; Illinois Prep 57
SWIC used its home court to pound visiting Illinois Prep, 97-57, in Belleville.
The Blue Storm (10-8 overall and 7-7 in District play) had six players In double figures led by Walter Johnson and Noah Courtney who scored 15 points each. Patrick Evans scored 13, Luke Davis 12, Jack Marinko had ten and Noah Courtney also with ten points each.
Ryan Parks scored 17 for Illinois Prep who trailed 48-23 at the break. Doug Alier netted 15 while Josh Burrows contributed 11 points.
SWIC led 48-23 at halftime.
