Mt. Vernon Police have made arrests in connection with a shooting late Saturday evening that injured three in the 1100 block of Lamar Street.
37-year-old Timothy Boyd of Mt. Vernon was arrested for attempted murder, two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm, armed habitual offender and on an Illinois Department of Corrections Parole Violation. Police say a search for Boyd came to an end Thursday morning when he was located and apprehended without incident at a hotel in Carlyle by the US Marshals Task Force accompanied by Mt. Vernon Police Detectives.
A second person in the hotel room, 38-year-old Myleika Whitelow of Centralia, was charged with aiding/concealing a fugitive.
Mt. Vernon Police say all three of those who were shot were taken to local hospitals and then transferred to St. Louis for further treatment. The three reportedly had serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
In a news release about the arrest, Mt. Vernon Police say patrol officers and detectives worked many tireless hours following up on leads and using various investigative techniques to ensure Boyd was located and apprehended to protect the community from extremely violent and dangerous acts.
