Police Beat for Thursday, October 17th, 2024

Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested 24-year-old Cassie Lewis of East Bond in Patoka for felony criminal damage to property.   Lewis allegedly damaged the home of her parents.  She was taken to the Marion County Jail.

20-year-old Gregory Miller of North Broadway in Salem was arrested for violation of bail bond.  Salem Police say he was allegedly banging on the window of a car where an alleged female victim of a prior charge against him was sitting.

Three others were arrested on outstanding warrants.

  • 35-year-old Dustin Higgins of Van Buren Street in Junction City was returned to Marion County via prisoner transport on an outstanding Marion County felony warrant. Bond is set at $20,000.
  • 42-year-old Jamie Foppe of Church Road in Salem was arrested on a failure to appear no bond major traffic warrant. She was later released on pretrial conditions.
  • 38-year-old Laura Spitler of O’Fallon Street in Odin was arrested on a Clinton County failure to appear warrant. She was later transferred to the Clinton County Jail at Carlyle.

Salem Fire were called out twice on Wednesday.  The first call was to a malfunctioning stove at Glenwood Acres.   Firemen unplugged the stove to eliminate any potential fire.

Firemen were called to the 1100 block of South Rotan to a report of a strong natural gas odor.   No source was ever found.
