A 34-year-old Salem man has died from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle crash last Thursday morning on Route 37 South near Paradise Cemetery just south of the Salem City Limits.

Sean Wimberly passed away Friday at St. Louis University Hospital where he had been transferred by medical helicopter for treatment of injuries.

Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies say Wimberly was traveling northbound when he ran off the east side of the road, traveled along the ditch, jumped a culvert, hit a power pole and spun around before coming to a stop.

The Salem Fire Protection District was called to extricate Wimberly from his pickup truck.  The driver’s door had to be removed.  Wimberly was first transported by ground ambulance by United Medical Response before being transferred.

Wimberly was then taken by United Medical Response to Salem Township Hospital where he was later transferred by medical helicopter to a St. Louis Hospital.

The Crouse Funeral Home in Salem is in charge of arrangements.
