Donna Lorraine Garrison, 77, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 12:38 pm September 9, 2024 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon. She was born December 27, 1946 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Leonard and Ethel (Leneave) Denning. Donna was married to James W. Garrison and he passed away on August 17, 2023.
Donna is survived by her sons, Brian Garrison and wife LeeAnn of Woodlawn, Illinois, James Kevin Garrison of Ashley, Illinois, Justin Garrison of Mount Vernon, Illinois; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Lonnie Denning and wife, Mary Ann of Carterville, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her son, Brett Garrison; two twin brothers; special friend, Larry Phelps.
Donna worked as an Assistant Post Master for the United States Post Office. She was a member of Logan Street Baptist Church and will be dearly missed.
A Visitation will be held Thursday, September 12, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Graveside Service will be held Friday, September 13, 2024 at 9:30 am at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Pastor David Houseworth officiating. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made in Donna ‘s honor to the charity of the donor’s choice.
