Police Beat for Wednesday, September 11th, 2024

Two people are in the Marion County Jail after being arrested on outstanding warrants.   27-year-old Cameron Jones, who said he was homeless, was arrested by Centralia Police on a no bond felony Marion County failure to appear warrant for possession of a weapon by a felon.  25-year old Jake Gilmore of East Violet in Mt. Vernon was arrested on a Marion County felony failure to appear no bond warrant on two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department has received a report of a residential burglary to a home in the 2300 block of State Route 161 East of Centralia.  A necklace was allegedly stolen two to three weeks ago.
 The Marion County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a report of two shots fired down the road after a pickup truck revved its engine in front of a home in the 4000 block of Waggoner Road in rural Iuka around 12:30 Wednesday morning.  Sheriff’s Deputies could not locate the vehicle involved.
