2024 09/07 – Elizabeth ‘Bethy’ Ann Marcanio

Elizabeth “Bethy” Ann Marcanio (Nee Schwartz), 62, formerly of Centralia, Illinois, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024, in Pensacola, Florida, surrounded by her family.

Beth was born August 24, 1961, to Charles “Red” Schwartz and Sally (Telford) Schwartz in Centralia, Illinois.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Charles and Sally Schwartz and brothers, Richard Schwartz, Sr. and Kenneth Schwartz.

Beth is survived by her two sons: Matthew Marcanio of Pensacola, Florida, Chase (Kaylee) Marcanio; two grandchildren: Radley and Nora of Winston, Oregon; and her brother: Mark (Mary) Schwartz of Farmington, Michigan.

She was a very proud aunt to Richard Schwartz, II and wife Amy and great-niece: Ally Schwartz, along with great-nephews: Richard Schwartz, III and Johnny Schwartz; a niece: Adrienne Bond of Springfield, Illinois; great-niece: Arin (McCaherty) Lee and husband Danny of Springfield, Illinois; great-niece: Madelyn McCaherty of Springfield, Illinois. Also surviving her are a nephew: Jonathan Schwartz and wife Meg; great-nephew: Bradley Schwartz of Debary, Florida; and nephew: Robert Schwartz and his partner: Matt Johnson of Chicago, Illinois.

Bethy was passionate in all she did and loved cheerleading from St. Mary’s School, Centralia High School (Orphans) and Kaskaskia Community College (Blue Devils). After attending college, Beth moved to Biloxi, Mississippi for a few years before moving to Pensacola, Florida, in the mid-eighties. She became a licensed Real Estate Agent and was a property manager for many years and loved being of service to residents in her care.

Bethy also loved the beach and cherished those days she could spend there with her two boys and many friends. She was a free spirit who loved life and loved to love. In her youth she enjoyed skiing and boating at Carlyle and Centralia Lakes, riding motorcycles, and family gatherings. Bethy was a kind and caring person, who gave herself wholly to those she loved and her two sons cherished her, as well, she became a second mom to their friends. She will be remembered forever by those whose lives she touched and who knew her.

A Visitation will be held Friday, September 6, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church in Centralia with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Centralia.

A lunch will be hosted after and will be announced after Mass. Beth’s service will be simultaneous with a Celebration of Life for Charles “Red” Schwartz. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Beth’s honor to St. Mary’s School in Centralia, Illinois and/or Pensacola Humane Society in Pensacola, Florida.
