2024 08/27 – Helen Mae Myers

By Bruce Kropp Aug 27, 2023 | 2:20 PM

Helen Mae Myers, 94, of Dix, went to see her Lord Jesus on August 24, 2024, in Mt. Vernon.  Born Helen Mae Ferguson, on March 13, 1930, to Amos and Anna Ferguson, she was the last surviving sibling, having two brothers, and five sisters.

Helen loved her Lord and her many good friends from the Dix community and Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where she was a member.  She moved to Dix after marrying D.W. (David Winfree) Myers, who passed away in 2003.

Their daughter, Susan Johnson, with her husband James Johnson, survives them, along with two beloved grandchildren, Isaac Hester and Miriam Eppich.

Helen worked at the L and N café, before moving to Dix, where she then worked at Doc’s café, and in the kitchen at Rome Grade School.  Helen served the community well, working at blood drives, at the voting polls, and at funeral dinners.  As a testament of that service, she had many friends.  Her family is grateful for all of those friends who have in turn been serving her well for the last few years.  She loved flowers, birds, wildlife, gardening, mushroom hunting, playing dominos and bingo, quilting, the Gaithers and gospel music in general, chocolate of any kind, going shopping at the Dollar store, her church, her friends and family, and her Lord Jesus, whom she depended on daily.

Funeral services for Mrs. Myers will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon), on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix.  A private family burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 27, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service, at the funeral home. Memorial gifts may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and will be accepted at the service, or by mail to the Osborn Funeral Home, P.O. Box 130, Dix, Illinois 62830.  Online condolences may be made at www.osbornfuneral.com, or on the Osborn Funeral Home Facebook page. It is rejoicing time for her life well lived.
