Douglas “Doug” White, 71, of Dix, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at his home.
He was born October 26, 1952, in Centralia, Illinois to George S. White and Dorothy Garland White. He married Cynthia Sisson White on December 6, 1972, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and she survives him.
Doug is also survived by his four children: Michelle Hall and Jason of Albers, Illinois, Douglas White and Jennifer of Walnut Hill, Crystal McClintock and Brandon of Murfreesboro, TN, and Jessica Killman and Scott of La Vergne TN; ten grandchildren: Cody, Collin, Ethan, Jayli, Dylan, Camryn, Mollie, Kaydence, Cohen, Trevor; one great-grandson: Liam; Brother: George W White and Rhonda Morris of Centralia; three sisters: Ruby Peleaz of Arizona, Judy Sassorossi of Centralia, and Lisa Shoemaker and Jim of Centralia and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents: George S. and Dorothy White, brothers; Bobbie Ray White, Mark White and Kenneth White; sisters; Lana Wernsman and Linda Donoho. Brother- in- laws; Gene Donoho, Robert Sassarossi and Pete Peleaz.
Doug served in the Army in the 82nd Airborne from 1969-1972. He was the owner of White’s R.O.W. and White’s Trucking for many years. Doug was an avid NASCAR fan, he loved old cars, traveling, taking road trips on his trike, and working. Doug loved and cherished his time with his family.
Funeral Services for Doug White will be held Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at 11:30 AM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. A Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Antioch Christian Church and/or the Oil Belt Christian Service Camp and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618) 532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the White Family.
