Police Beat for Thursday, July 25th, 2024

Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a 31-year-old Salem man for possession of a stolen vehicle and theft.  The sheriff’s department was notified Wednesday that Thomas Wilkins of North Jefferson was riding a stolen motorcycle near the Tonti and Woodard School Road northwest of Salem.  The deputy eventually stopped the motorcycle and arrested Wilkins.   He was taken to the Marion County Jail to await a final decision on charges.

Salem Police arrested 36-year-old Loyd Finley on a Marion County felony failure to appear in court warrant in a possession of methamphetamine case.  Finley was taken into custody when an officer noticed him in a retail store.

60-year-old Wally West of West Case in Kinmundy was arrested by Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies on an outstanding Clay County warrant.

30-year-old Christopher Budds of South Maple in Sandoval was arrested by Sandoval Police on an Effingham County no-bond warrant.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a burglary to a residence in the 6400 block of Cedar Road in Iuka.  The burglary was caught on camera.  The only thing reported missing is a key.
