Marion County reports two new COVID-19 related deaths; four other deaths in region

The Marion County Health Department has reported two more COVID-19 related deaths on Wednesday, bringing the total number of deaths in the county during the pandemic to 97.   The two who passed away were females in their 80s and 100s.  Both were residents of long-term care facilities.

Four other deaths were reported in South Central Illinois on Wednesday.    Three were in Washington County, two females in their 80s and one in their 90s.   Washington County has now had 19 deaths.  There was one death reported in Jefferson County, a female in her 90s.   Jefferson County is reporting 56 deaths.

The Marion County Health Department reported 72 new COVID-19 cases.  Four were long-term care residents and three were students.  None were at school during their infectious period.  40 of the cases are considered community spread and 32 were the result of household or close contacts.

There are now 505 active cases in Marion County, including 21 who are hospitalized.  Five of those are on ventilators.  The department released 16 from isolation on Wednesday.

The Clinton County Health Department is reporting 92 new positive cases.  There are now 484 on home isolation and 13 who are hospitalized.

The Jefferson County Health Department had 43 new positive cases on Wednesday.  There are now 323 positive cases in isolation.

The Washington County Health Department is reporting 36 new cases on Tuesday and Wednesday.  There are now 132 on isolation, including 40 linked to outbreaks.

The Fayette County Health Department is reporting 13 new cases, including two in congregate care facilities.

The Clay County Health Department is reporting 12 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday.

There were nine new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Wayne County.  115 are currently isolating and one person is hospitalized.
