The Marion County Sheriff’s Department arrested both occupants of a car following a lengthy high-speed chase of a motorcycle that reached over 100 miles per hour early Thursday morning.

The driver, 22-year-old Lucas Bone of Community Beach Road in Centralia, and passenger, 26-year-old Brittany Bunton of East Kerr in Centralia, were taken into custody when the chase ended after the motorcycle missed a sharp turn in the Burge Road and crashed into the roadside ditch southeast of Centralia.

Bone is being held for alleged possession of meth, driving suspended, aggravated fleeing eluding, and on an outstanding Clinton County felony warrant. Bunton is being held on an outstanding Madison County warrant. The two are not expected to have a court appearance until Friday.

Initial information from the sheriff’s department indicates a deputy initially tried to stop the motorcycle near Old US 51 and Brink Road. Bone reportedly went south to Community Beach Road, then north on new U.S. 51 to Red Stripe Road, southbound to the Green Street Road, with the chase then traveling south on Bell Club Road, to Route 161, to Racetrack Road, to Bundyville Road and eventually onto Burge Road where the vehicle crashed.

No injuries were reported. Centralia and Central City Police assisted.

The incident began just before five Thursday morning.
