The Marion County Health Department is reporting two more COVID-19 related deaths bringing the death toll in the county to 92.  A male in his 50’s with underlying health care problems who was living at home and a male in his 70s who was a long term care resident passed away.

The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 181 additional deaths on Thursday.  Two females in their 90s and a male in his 90s passed away in Clinton County.  Two were long care residents while the other lived at home.  Clinton County has now had 73 deaths.  Two deaths were reported in Fayette County, a female in her 70s and another in her 90s.   Fayette County has now had 43 deaths.

The Marion County Health Department reported 62 new cases on Thursday.  12 were long-term care residents and six were students, five who were attending in-person classes during their infectious period.   38 of the cases are considered community spread and 24 spread from household or close contacts.

There are now 330 active cases.   Ten are in the hospital and three of those are on ventilators.  There were 37 released from isolation on Thursday, bringing the total recovered to 2,244.   The number of tests taken by Marion County residents has now topped 40,000 and is at 40,516.

The Clinton County Health Department is reporting 30 new cases.  There are now 471 on home isolation and 11 who are hospitalized.

Jefferson County is reporting 36 new cases.  There are now 311 active cases.

The Fayette County Health Department has 23 new positive cases.  Three are linked to congregate care facilities.

Statewide, 8,828 cases were reported.  The preliminary seven-day positivity rate is at 8.4-percent.   The Southern Illinois Region positivity rate ending the week of December 14th bumped up to 11.6-percent.  The Marion County positivity rate jumped back up to 10.5-percent.   The Metro-East  Region fell to 12-percent.  The East Central Illinois Region is at 8.5-percent.
