The Marion County Health Department is reporting one additional COVID-19 related death on Tuesday.  The male in his 70s was a long term care resident.  The death was the 89th in the county.

Clinton County reported two additional deaths on Tuesday, a male and female in their 60s.   Health officials say both were not long term care residents.  There have now been 70 COVID related deaths in Clinton County.  There were also two additional deaths in Effingham County, a male and female in their 80s.

Statewide, deaths on Tuesday totaled 117 and 7,359 new cases.

The Marion County Health Department reported 30 new cases on Tuesday.  One was a long term care resident.  Four were students, including two were in school during their infectious period with contact tracing underway.   Half of the cases were listed as community spread and the other 15 are believed to have spread from household or close contacts.

There are now 352 active cases, including ten who are hospitalized.  Four of those are on ventilators.   2,147 have now recovered, with no additional releases from isolation reported on Tuesday.

The Clinton County Health Department reported 53 new cases.  There are now 460 on home isolation and 13 who are hospitalized.

The Jefferson County Health Department is reporting 74 new cases in the past two days.   There are currently 343 active cases.

The Fayette County Health Department reported 92 new cases, including 77 linked to a congregate-care facility.

The Wayne County Health Department has 25 new cases.  112 are currently isolating and 11 are currently hospitalized.

The Statewide positivity rate for the past week dropped to 8.6-percent.  The Southern Illinois Region is at 11.8-percent.   The Marion County rate dropped to 10.3-percent.  The Metro East Region has a positivity rate of 12.7-percent.  The East Central Illinois Region positivity rate is 9.1-percent for the seven days ending December 12th.
