The Marion County Health Department on Monday is reporting three more deaths from COVID-19 related causes. They are a female and two males all in their 70s. None were long term care facility residents. There have now been 88 COVID-19 related deaths in Marion County.
The Jefferson County Health Department is reporting three deaths in males in their 50s, 80s, and 90s bringing the total since the pandemic began to 53. The State Public Health Department is reporting 103 additional deaths around the state. They include a female in her 80s in Fayette County. There have now been 41 COVID-related deaths in Fayette County.
There were 47 new cases in Marion County over the weekend and Monday. Five are long term care residents. Four are students. Only one was in class. The health department is considering 30 of the cases as community spread and 17 as transmitted from household and close contacts.
There are now 323 active cases in Marion County, including nine who are in the hospital. Four of those are on ventilators. There were 61 released from isolation over the weekend and Monday putting the number recovered at 2,147 of the total 2,558 positive cases.
The Clinton County Health Department is reporting 72 new positive cases. There are now 474 on home isolation and 13 who are hospitalized. With the weekend deaths, 68 have now died in Clinton County from COVID-19 related causes.
The Washington County Health Department is reporting 28 new COVID-19 cases over the weekend and Monday. There are currently 170 active cases including 77 linked to outbreaks. Five remain hospitalized. The county’s death toll rose to eight over the weekend.
The Fayette County Health Department is reporting 93 new positive cases. 42 were linked to congregate care facilities.
The Jefferson County Health Department reported 66 new cases over the weekend and only six on Monday due to a delay in case reporting. There are currently 295 active cases.
The Clay County Health Department is reporting 19 new cases Friday through Sunday. The department is also confirming two more COVID-19 related deaths over the weekend, bringing the total number of deaths to 26.
The Wayne County Health Department is reporting four new lab-confirmed cases on Monday. There are currently 94 on isolation and six who are hospitalized.
The State of Illinois reported 7,214 new COVID-19 cases on Monday. The statewide positivity rate for the past week continued to fall and is currently at 8.7-percent. The Southern Illinois Region positivity rate is up to 11.7-percent. 145 are hospitalized with only 15-percent of ICU beds available. Marion County’s positivity rate fell to 11.2-percent. The Metro East Region positivity rate is at 13-percent. 210 are hospitalized and available ICU bed capacity has improved to 22-percent. The East Central Illinois Region has dropped to 9.2-percent with both ICU and Med-Serg beds above the 20-percent threshold.
