The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting six more COVID-19 related deaths in South Central Illinois on Sunday.
Two of the deaths are in Marion County, a male in his 70s and another in his 80s. It was not immediately clear if these deaths had been reported earlier by the Marion County Health Department. The State is also reporting two deaths in Washington County, a female in her 60s and a male in his 80s. There was one death in Clay County of a male in his 40s and in Wayne County the death of a male in his 80s.
Statewide, there were 7,216 new cases and 115 additional deaths reported on Sunday. Other deaths in southern Illinois include one in Lawrence County, four in Madison County, one in Randolph County, three in St. Clair County, and one in Williamson County.
The Statewide positivity rate for the past week continues to fall. It is now at 9.1-percent. The positivity rate in the Southern Illinois Region fell to 11.4-percent for the week ending December 10th. The Marion County positivity rate increased slightly to 11.3-percent. The Metro East Positivity rate fell to 13.1-percent. The East Central Illinois region is at 10.5-percent.

Centralia 1,778 cases, Salem 800 cases, Odin 216 cases, Sandoval 182cases, Farina 153 cases, Iuka 151 cases, Patoka 113 cases, Kinmundy 110 cases, Alma 67 cases, Kell 66 cases, Walnut Hill and Texico 58 cases apiece, and Vernon 127 cases.
In some larger area cities, Mt. Vernon 1,530 cases, Vandalia 1,226 cases, Carlyle 756 cases, Flora 577 cases, Fairfield 636 cases, and Nashville 391 cases.
