The Marion County Health Department is reporting two new COVID-19 related deaths on Friday. They are a female in her 70s and a male in his 80s who were both long term care residents. There have now been 85 COVID-related deaths in Marion County.
Statewide, 190 deaths were reported on Friday. They include a female in her 90s in Clinton County, a male in his 60s in Clay County, a male in his 70s in Jefferson County, and a male in his 70s in Washington County. There were also two more deaths reported in Effingham County, a female in her 80s and a male in his 90s.
The Marion County Health Department is also reporting 71 new cases. They include 22 long-term care facility residents from various facilities. There were also six students. Contact tracing are underway of the two who were in school during their infectious period. The other four were not in school. 45 of the cases are considered community spread and 26 are listed as from household or close contacts.
There are now 340 active cases, including 11 in the hospital. Four of those are on ventilators. There were no recoveries listed on Friday. There have been 2,086 who have recovered since the pandemic began.
The Clinton County Health Department reported 58 new cases. 492 are on isolation and 16 are hospitalized. Clinton County has now had 63 deaths.
The Jefferson County Health Department is reporting 30 new cases. There are currently 330 who are in isolation.
Fayette County is reporting 40 new positive cases. Ten of those are linked to a congregate facility.
Clay County Health Department is reporting 16 new cases on Thursday.
The Wayne County Health Department is reporting 11 new cases. 129 are currently on isolation and five are in the hospital.
