Centralia Police arrested all three occupants of an apartment at 1700 West McCord after gunfire broke out during an argument.
Chief Greg Dodson says the initial report of gunfire came from the Deerwood Mobile Home Park, but on the way, the officer heard more shots and located the problem at 1700 West McCord. Police were told by neighbors that they heard an argument and then gunfire broke out.
The apartment building was evacuated and a standoff began for 20 minutes until the three occupants inside the unit where the shots were fired came out without incident.
An initial search of the apartment resulted in a spent bullet found laying on the floor. The scene was secured and a search warrant obtained. During its execution police recovered 1.2 pounds of cannabis in six separate gallon jars, one ounce of cocaine, five grams of meth, along with a nine-millimeter pistol and a rifle. Police also discovered a bullet hole fired from inside the apartment that went through the exterior wall. In addition, $1,000 in cash was recovered.
The two residents of the apartment were arrested on multiple charges and taken to the Clinton County Jail at Carlyle. 28-year-old Dareyris Bacon was charged with possession with intent to deliver cannabis, possession of a controlled substance, possession of firearms by a felon, unlawful use of a weapon, and aggravated discharge of a firearm. The other occupant, 28-year-old Chyan Phillips, was charged with possession with intent to deliver cannabis and possession of a controlled substance.
The third person, 29-year-old David Bacon of Centralia, was arrested on a Marion County felony failure to appear warrant on a weapons charge. He remains in the Marion County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
