It looks like the first shipment of COVID-19 vaccine to Illinois may be arriving later this month.
Governor JB Pritzker says the numbers change daily, but it’s anticipated the state will initially get about 109,000 units of the vaccine, which covers about 54,500 people since everyone will need two doses.
Those vaccines because of the limited numbers of them will almost all go to health care workers and if there are enough then next to those in long term care facilities, both the staff and residents.”
The Governor says he hopes that shipment, as well as subsequent shipments, will end up being larger but that Illinois is at the whim of the FDA.
