Mildred K. Sexton, 88, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 7:47 am December 2, 2020 at her home. Mildred worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years and was of the Baptist faith. She is dearly loved and will be missed by all her family and friends.
A Private Funeral Service will be held. Interment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Mildred’s honor to the Logan Street Baptist Church Building Fund. Please remember to observe social distancing at this time. Mildred is survived by her three daughters, Karen Lee Thornsberry of Mount Vernon, Deborah Willis and husband, Dr. Jerrold of Mount Vernon, and Anita Ward and husband, Stan Mitchell of Flowery Branch, Georgia; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was born December 31, 1931 in Floyd County, Kentucky to the late Alonzo Kiser and Evalyn (Cook) Kiser. Mildred was married to James Edward Sexton and he preceded her in death on January 14, 2019. In addition to her parents and husband, Mildred was preceded in death by one granddaughter.
