Esther Charlene De’Jesus, 84, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away November 26, 2020, at her home with her family by her side.

Esther was the owner and operator of the Salad Bowl and was a member of the Mount Vernon Baptist Temple.  She is dearly loved by her family and friends and will be missed by those who knew her.

A Visitation will be held Saturday, November 28, 2020, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at South Hickory Hill Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Graveside Service will begin at 1:00 pm at the cemetery with Pastor Ron Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made in Esther’s honor to the De’Jesus family, in the care of Patricia Fields.   Please remember to observe social distancing at this time. We are limited to 10 people in our building at a time. Following the CDC and NFDA regulations, we encourage everyone to wear a mask. Esther was born June 21, 1936, in Dix, Illinois to the late Luther and Opal Bateman. Esther first married William Irvin Morgan and he preceded her in death.  She later married Freddy De’Jesus on December 10, 1987, in Mount Vernon, Illinois and he preceded her in death on September 21, 2013.

Esther is survived by her children, Patricia Fields of Mount Vernon, Illinois and William Fields of Dix, Illinois; four grandchildren, William Fields, Jr. and wife, Sonya, Amy Meeks, Corina Warren and husband, Chris, and Richard William Taylor; four great-grandchildren, Marc Meeks, Natalie Warren, Liam Avery Fields, and Irie Fields; several nieces and nephews; and two stepchildren, Mildred Voss, and Robert Fields.

In addition to her parents and both husbands, Esther was preceded in death by her daughter, Regina Fields, and stepson, James Fields.
