Raymond Allen Borcherding, 87, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 10:08 pm on May 22, 2024, at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.
He was born September 21, 1936, in Iuka, Illinois to the late Walter and Bertha (Gragert) Borcherding. Raymond married Phyllis (Glasco) Borcherding on February 19, 1960, in Orland Park, Illinois.
In addition to his wife of sixty-three years, Raymond is survived by his children, Danny R. Borcherding and wife, Katherine, DeeAnn Stewart and husband, Robert, and Kristen Borcherding; grandchildren, Phillip Borcherding, Alex White and wife, Brooke, Olivia White, Cameron Stewart and wife, Sydney, Paisley Stewart and partner, Morgan, and Annie K. White; great-grandchildren, Jonah, Aurora, and JackLouie; sister, Betty R. Eddings; and sister-in-law, Irma Borcherding.
In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his brothers, William Borcherding, Reinhardt Borcherding and wife, Darlene, and Walter Borcherding, Jr., and sisters, Louise Quandt and Dorothy Wiehle.
Raymond owned and operated a timber and logging business. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Raymond loved nature, was an avid gardener, and was happiest when he was outdoors. He liked all sports and was a true Cardinal fan. He loved spending time with his family and especially enjoyed family game nights. Above all, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.
A Visitation will be held Monday, May 27, 2024, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church in Iuka, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at noon with Pastor Paul Pater officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Iuka, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Raymond’s honor to Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
