The Salem City Council Monday night will be asked to award bids on street and natural gas line replacement work for the summer months.
The council is being asked to award a $371,300 bid to Rooters American Maintenance, Inc for the resurfacing of West Kell from Route 37 to College Street and North College from Boone to Broughton. They will also be asked to award the 2024 Gas Line Replacement project to USDI for $179,520.
The council will consider a low speed vehicle ordinance. Police Chief Kyle Ambuehl and Code Enforcement Officer Dave Lusch are recommending the Golf Cart Ordinance be amended to include a new type of low speed vehicle that can be licensed from being allowed on US 50 and Illinois Route 37.
No action is recommended on continuation of a contract with the YMCA for recreation programming due to lack of documentation at this time from the YMCA.
City Manager Annette Sola is seeking council permission to open the contract with possibility of cancellation with Constellation Energy due to huge increases in electric bills at several city buildings.
Saved with Amazing Grace is seeking permission to once again sell concessions in Bryan Memorial Park during the men’s softball games this summer. Most of the proceeds go to support the annual Thanksgiving Dinner for local residents.
The city has received a request from Andy and Tracy Crouch for an easement on the north side of their property at 220 West Church. The easement would be on property recently purchased by the city for development of a downtown event center.
The meeting begins at six Monday night at Salem City Hall.
